Prop 28: Arts and Music in Schools

Beginning in 2023-24, California’s Proposition 28 provides additional funding for Arts and Music Education in California Public Schools.  The amount provided to each District is based on the total student enrollment (70%) plus the amount of low-income students enrolled (30%).

Schools are required to use these funds for hiring additional new arts staff and to supplement and enhance their arts education programs.  This may include a variety of subjects, including dance, media arts, music, theater, and visual arts.
